With such high divorce rates and negative financial implications including high priced weddings, is there any point in getting married nowadays, why not just live in sin?

Having lived with before marrying them and then divorcing them years after, i would definitely say just live together. I also think that you should always keep your finances seperate where possible otherwise it will very likely end up costing you a fortune if you split. My partner changed as soon as we were married and felt he didn't have to put any effort into the relationship any more which just killed it. At the end of the day it's just a piece of paper, if you're happy as you are living together stick with what works best for you and don't do what's expected of you. If you do split believe me it's much easier if you're not married and everything isn't in joint names. In this day and age it makes no difference as far as the kid's are concerned as attitudes have changed so much in today's society.

I think the momma d and nb sauce have good points on the issue . The system we live in makes marrige a great hustle for some people who don't really love the person they are with . Some people do it for money , house , car and will etc and others to stay in a country its crazy out there .
